Conversation 1 : Do you prefer Chinese or Western-style food?

Translation

- Do you prefer Chinese or Western-style food? ( You like most eat Chinese food or Western-style food ? )

- I really like (to eat) Chinese food.

- What do you prefer? ( What do you like most eat ? )

- I like dumplings.

Conversation 2 : Have you ever eaten roast duck?

Translation

- Have you ever eaten roast duck ?

- No, does it taste good? ( I haven't eaten, is it delicious ? )

- Not bad, you should try.

Conversation 3 : What kind of dish is it?

Translation

- Do you know what kind of dish is it?

- This is a cold dish. Also called "down alcohol dish".

- What hot dishes are on the menu?

- There are vegetables, fish, pork, chicken and seafood.

Conversation 4 : What kind of food do you eat?

Translation

- What kind of food do you often eat?

- Rice and steamed bun.

Grammar

Question with 没有

In sentences with the aspect particle 过 (guo) the affirmative-negative form of a question is: 

- 你 去过 北京 没有？ Have you been to Beijing?

- 你 吃过 饺子 没有？ Have you ever eaten dumplings?

Verb repetition : 尝一尝

Verb denoting action can be repeated. This device is usually employed when one wishes to indicate that the action is of a very short duration, to soften the tone or to make it sound relaxed or informal. 

Example:

- 你 应该 尝一尝。 You should try.

- 你 应该 看一看 You should have a look.
