Translation
- Where do you live?
- I live 15, Xueyuan Road, in the Haidian district.
- You live in a building or in a house?
- In a building, the building number 8.
- On what floor do you live?
- The 13th floor.
- What's the number of your room? ( You live in what number's room ? )
- Room 214.
Conversation 2 : What's your phone number?
Translation
- Can you tell me your home phone number?
- Yes. Here is my business card with my address?
- What is your home phone number?
- 23416836? Before coming give me a call. If I am not home call my mobile.
Grammar
Subject + Verb + 的
的 constructions of this kind, composed of a subject and a verb plus 的, are nominal construction.
Examples:
- 我 住 的 是 楼房。( the place I live is a building )
- 她 学 的 是 汉语。( what she's learning is Mandarin )
- 他 去 的 是 北京。( Where he goes is Beijing )
The prepositional construction 给
The prepositional construction 给... and its object are very often used in front of the verb as an adverbial adjunct.
Examples:
- 我 给 我朋友 打 电话。( I give a call to my friend )
- 我 给 姐姐 打 电话。( I give a call to my sister )
